Stories with Paper Folding

Origami, the ancient art of paper folding is centuries old and not just limited to Japan. Origami has flourished and developed way beyond the fortune teller and also seen practical applications from medicine to space exploration.

I love to see a pattern or journey in folding sequences for origami models; to incorporate a story into the folding and create a whole new learning experience using performance is my passion.” – Shrikant Iyer

About me:

I was introduced to origami at age 9 through an origami television program. This is why I am a big proponent of origami outreach and visibility to encourage everyone to try folding. I have found that the performance and story telling makes the origami more approachable.

I have been presenting and educating Origami with storytelling for 15 + years. My clients include several schools, libraries, museums and art organizations. I have also appeared on television media all around the world from ABC, travel channel in the US to NHK in Japan.

In 2020, I collaborated with local New York origami artist, Paul Frasco to fold the worlds largest origami Dragon which is now entered in the Guinness book of world records. My stories have also been published in different magazines like The Paper by OrigamiUSA, Binah Bunch, library newsletters and websites.
